Felony charges in Maryland carry very significant penalties that can change the course of a person's life. Recently, one Maryland man has found himself in just this kind of life-altering situation.
The Upper Marlboro Sheriff's Department has announced that they have arrested a Maryland man and charged him with attempted first degree murder. The man was arrested at his home several days after the alleged incident occurred.
The warrant alleges that the man walked up to the front door of a local home in Hyattsville and knocked on the door and instructed the person who answered to leave the house. Authorities also allege that the man pointed a gun at the victim and threatened to kill him. However, the victim then ran back into the house and called the police. The man supposedly then left the premises before authorities arrived.
Several days later deputies from the Upper Marlboro Sheriff's department arrived at the accused's home and were allowed to come in. The man was then placed in custody and arrested. He has been charged with first degree murder as well as first and second degree assault.
Facing murder charges of this severity can totally change a person's life. However, any Maryland resident who is facing these kinds of felony charges may want to speak to a criminal defense attorney in order to understand just how serious their situation may be.
