A routine traffic stop in Maryland on Feb. 22 led to the discovery and seizure of marijuana, cocaine, heroin and prescription medications worth more almost $40,000, according to a report from the Anne Arundel County Police Department. Two brothers have been taken into custody in connection with the seized drugs. The Odenton men have each been charged with multiple counts of drug possession and drug possession with the intent to distribute.
The Honda Accord sedan the two men were traveling in was stopped for an undisclosed traffic violation in Gambrills. The officer who made the stop is said to have become suspicious after noticing the smell of marijuana coming from the car. A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly led to the discovery of more than 60 grams of marijuana and a set of digital scales. A search of the 24-year-old man behind the wheel allegedly yielded 7.69 grams of crack cocaine and several Xanax bars.
Police then used this evidence to secure a search warrant for a residence on Hammond Branch Road in Odenton. During the search of the residence, officers say they discovered 156 grams of marijuana, 35 grams of cocaine, 118 grams of Fentanyl, 243 Xanax pills and several items of drug cutting agents and packaging materials. Police also recovered $13,924 in currency.
