A Maryland man is now facing drug charges after a series of police actions reportedly targeting the local drug trade in Wicomico County. The county sheriff’s Community Action Team said that it had carried out a long-term investigation into drug sales and distribution on the area. One man from Fruitland was identified in particular as a frequent distributor of drugs in the county, according to the sheriff’s office.
In relation to the investigation, the sheriff’s office sought and carried out five warrants for searches in different areas. The man’s home was one of the locations searched on June 12. At the locations, police seized a number of items, including 15.19 grams of heroin, 10.84 grams of crack cocaine, 255.85 grams of marijuana, 16 edible THC items, two hydrocodone pills, two oxycodone pills and 2.57 grams of an unknown substance. The crack cocaine and heroin had been divided into multiple, smaller bags. In addition, law enforcement also seized 50 rounds of ammunition and $8,388.65 in cash.
The man was arrested and booked at the Wicomico County Detention Center. He was accused of multiple drug crimes, including possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of controlled substances (heroin, cocaine, hydrocodone and oxycodone) and possession of marijuana. Multiple agencies were involved in the arrest.
