On March 20, a Maryland man was taken into custody after he was accused of distributing narcotics and crack cocaine. The 36-year-old man was accused of distributing the drugs throughout Wicomico County.
The man was initially spotted by deputies near the Parker Road and Old Ocean City Road intersection in Salisbury. They attempted to execute a search warrant, but he reportedly took off on foot. He was taken into custody following a brief struggle near the intersection. A large amount of crack cocaine was found in the vehicle. Authorities then obtained a second search warrant for the man’s home. During the search of the residence, 95 strips of Suboxone and supplies associated with drug sales were recovered.
He was ultimately charged with possession with intent to distribute, distribution of narcotics and possession with intent to distribute a dangerous substance within a school zone. He was being held without bond at Wicomico County Detention Center. The man had also been charged with drug offenses in February, though he had been released on a $55,000 bond.
In the state of Maryland, there are severe consequences for people who are convicted on drug charges. Depending on the type and amount of drugs they are accused of possessing, they could face a jail sentence, probation and steep fines. A criminal record can also make it more difficult to find gainful employment in the future. However, a criminal law attorney may open an independent investigation to look for flaws in the prosecution’s case.
